UConn's three-year MFA in Digital Media Design offers a personalized, immersive experience at the intersection of art, technology, and research. Situated within a top-tier public university, this program empowers our diverse students with a demonstrated digital media background to develop an advanced, independent creative practice. We provide fully funded, unionized positions with tuition waivers and stipends. Fall 2025 applications are due by January 11, 2025 (no spring admissions).

About Our MFA Program
This terminal degree prepares graduates to innovate and lead in the digital media landscape. Collaborating with industry partners and university researchers, students gain expertise in digital media aesthetics, technology, and specialize in various disciplines, such as 3D Animation, Film/Video Production, Game Design, Motion Design & Animation, and Web/Interactive Media Design.
Degree Requirements
Three-year, full-time residency.
60 graduate credits, including core courses:
- DMD 5001 Digital Media Graduate Colloquium
- DMD 5010 Digital Culture
- ARTH 5570 History + Theory of Digital Art
12 credits of DMD 5015 MFA Studio Critique
18 credits of 5000 level DMD courses.
6 credits of outside department courses.
6 credits of DMD 5099 independent study.
Final Thesis Project
- DMD 5075 MFA Final Thesis Project (6 credits)
- DMD 5900 MFA Degree Exhibition (3 credits)
- Public exhibition at the William Benton Museum of Art.
- Oral defense of work and written statement.
Graduate Assistantships
Fully funded graduate assistantships are available, including:
- Teaching Assistantships: Mentor under faculty, gain teaching experience, and potentially become Instructor of Record.
- Greenhouse Studios: Collaborate on multimedia research projects.
